The City of Juneau is the county seat of Dodge County. It is located on highway 26 and is less than a one-hour drive from both Milwaukee and Madison. A man named Martin Rich settled Juneau in 1845 and was originally called Victory. It was later named after Paul Juneau, a prominent citizen. Juneau was incorporated as a village in 1865. The current population of Juneau is 2,812.

The county buildings located in the city include the courthouses, jail, and a facility called Clearview North and South. Clearview North houses a head trauma unit. Clearview South has facilities for the elderly and persons needing temporary care.

Juneau has a Mayor, Ronald Bosak, and 6 aldermen. There are three wards in the City.

The two schools in Juneau are a 1 through 8th grade Lutheran school and Dodgeland, which includes the high school and elementary grades.

Juneau is located about three miles west of the Rock River. Two local cities are on the Rock River. One, Hustisford, Wisconsin, is on a lake called Sinnissippi and affords recreation and historical sites. Horicon is on the marsh, which is formed from the Rock River and is known as the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge. This marsh attracts wild life, which changes seasonally, and gives boat tours.

Sensient Flavors is a large industry in Juneau. It processes yeast products. The by-products are animal feed and alcohol. This industry, as well as Dodge County and other industries in the industrial park, afford employment. The Dodge County airport is located about a mile north of Juneau and is large enough to accommodate jet traffic.

The Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Jam ’N Juneau festival, which is held in July. It is a family oriented affair with children activities, food, car show and live music all weekend.

The Chamber also sponsors a citywide rummage sale the second Saturday in August each year. From December 1 to December 31 a Parade of Trees that is on display at the library. Merchants sponsor and decorate the trees. A Farmer’s Market is held from May to September, depending on the weather. The market is open from 8 to 12 on Fridays and is located in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot.

The Community Center has several events during the year that attracts the public. One is a gun show and the other an antique market.
